Divorce Works – Terms of Service

Last updated: 8 August 2025

Welcome to Divorce Works. We’re here to make your legal process simpler, more transparent, and more affordable. These Terms explain how we work, what you can expect, and how we keep things fair and professional.

1. Who We Are

Divorce Works is a registered Australian legal practice. All services are delivered under the supervision of a qualified Australian legal practitioner, in accordance with the NSW Law Society professional conduct rules.

2. Your Service Package

You’ll receive a separate Service Scope Email or letter confirming:

  • The service(s) you’ve purchased (e.g. Divorce Application, Consent Orders)

  • What’s included and what’s not

  • The fixed fee (excluding court or third-party fees)

These Terms apply alongside that specific scope of work.

3. How We Work

We offer fixed-fee legal services designed to make the law more accessible. Here’s what that means:

  • You will share your information via online forms, email and over video call

  • We prepare legal documents (and any supporting material) based on that information

  • For most services, at least a 30-minute legal consultation is included, so you can ask any questions you might have

We aim to explain things clearly and only offer legal advice when appropriate. We'll always let you know when you’re receiving legal advice (as opposed to general guidance).

4. What’s Not Included

Unless stated otherwise in your Service Scope Email, our services do not include:

  • Handing contested legal proceedings

  • Attending court, unless otherwise expressly agreed in writing

  • Advice on superannuation or other property valuations, financial planning, or tax issues

  • Ongoing advice beyond the agreed fixed-fee package

If your matter becomes more complex, we’ll let you know and offer next steps or a referral.

5. Fees & Payment

All fees are fixed and listed before you book. You’ll receive a tax invoice. Full payment is required before we begin.

Court filing fees and other government charges are separate and payable directly. We’ll guide you through the steps.

6. Your Responsibilities

To get the best result, we rely on accurate information from you. You agree to:

  • Be truthful and complete in your responses

  • Notify us of any changes

  • Provide requested information in a timely manner

7. Confidentiality & Privacy

We take your privacy seriously. Any information you provide is handled securely and in accordance with Australian privacy law. See our Privacy Policy for details.

8. Intellectual Property

All tools, forms, templates, and guides we provide are our intellectual property. You may use them for your personal legal matter only.

9. Limitation of Liability

Our liability in connection with the services is limited to the value of the fees you have paid to us. This limitation does not affect your right to request an independent assessment of our costs as specified in the Legal Profession Uniform Law (NSW).

10. Complaints or Concerns

If you’re unhappy with our service, email us at helen@divorceworks.com.au. We’ll do our best to resolve things quickly. If needed, you can contact the Office of the Legal Services Commissioner.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms occasionally. The version on our website at the time you accept service applies.

12. Questions?

If anything here is unclear, just ask. We’ll always explain things in plain English
